Our Story
About Our Church
The first meeting was on May 13, 1992 and was held at Elder and Evangelist Annette Sessions' home located on 215 Auger Street, Hamden, Connecticut.
The meeting was called to order by Elder Joseph N. Sessions, immediately following the devotional service and bible study, Elder Joseph Sessions asked everyone to give him their undivided attention. He said the Lord kept repeating to him "It's time now", meaning, it's time to open a church and God gave him the name for the church Holy Word Foundation Ministries Interdenominational Church for All People.
On May 16, 1992, Elder Sessions met with Minister Truluck Scott and asked if he would like to be his Assistant Pastor: Minister Scott's reply was: "I don't know anything about that position, I don't know if I could do that, but I do know that God told me to help you. I'll do my best." replied Minister Scott who did an awesome job along with his wife Mother Josephine Scott.
The meeting continued the following week on May 27, 1992 at the house of Minister and Evangelist Scott located at 77 Spring Street, New Haven, CT. More business was discussed regarding setting up the church. Tithes were received from the various members in the sum of $111.00 dollars. Combined with the Wednesday night offering in the amount of $9.00, made the total $120.00 dollars. The meeting was open to discuss remaining business regarding the opening of the church. Elder Joseph Sessions presented the church seal and samples of certificates for license to the members. Fellowship cards were to be made up. Elder Sessions told the members that a door was open for them to have services two nights per week and once on Sunday for $350.00 per month. Dates were as follows:
Sunday Service at 1:30 PM, Tuesday night bible study at 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and Thursday night Praise and Fellowship at 7:00 PM. On May 20th 1992, we applied for our 501C designation and on January 1, 1993, we became an organization. We are recognized anywhere in the United States as an established ministry. The Lord blessed Holy Word Foundation Ministries to purchase property located at 459 Greenwich Avenue, New Haven, Connecticut. Through much faithfulness and commitment to God we were blessed to move to 105 Derby Avenue, New Haven, Connecticut. God decided that this was not our permanent place. So we moved to 11 Roma Street, East Haven, Connecticut. Through Bishop Joseph Sessions listening to God and many prophesies God let us know that 11 Roma Street was not our final destination. God wasn't finished-through fasting and praying God led Bishop Sessions to a cookout where he found out that Pastor Watts knew of an available church building. Bishop Sessions began to inquire about this property an through God's favor we purchased 5-9 Norwood Street, Meriden Connecticut in June 2007.
After many renovations, dedication, determination, and hard work we had our grand opening on October 14, 2007. After many more years of serving as Pastor, Apostle Sessions heard the call to "Get Kidd", Minister Orindel Kidd, who took over as Pastor in September 2019. Now, Bishop Orindel Kidd leads newly named, New Holy Word Foundation Ministries alongside with First Lady Camille Kidd, his wife. New Holy Word Foundation Ministries is made up of original and new church members striving to grow together as TEAM NEW HOLY WORD. We Thank God for such a beautiful edifice and we thank Him for the shepherd and founder of this house.
